Follow me to explore Dadaocheng, the most well-preserved old town of Taipei. It was the essential hub of trade and exchange. Walking on Dihua Street, the main artery of the old town, you are giong to experience the glory of the past Taipei, also the mix of old and new. Red-brick historical buildings, and hundreds of old shops, such as herbal medicine, dried goods, fabrics, and pastries. Meanwhile, many lovely cafes, elegant tea houses, souvenir shops, and trendy restaurants.  

The tour will last about 1.5h~2h, not including breaks or visits that you can do on your own. Suggest to plan at least 3 hours for the tour.  

The best time to visit Dadaocheng is AM10:00-PM6:00, Wednesday to Friday.

Xia-hai City God Temple is a famous landmark in the city and hosts multiple Taiwanese deities. The most important one is the City God, and it is why all of Taipei's mayoral candidates come to visit the temple before the elections. However, among young citizens, the temple is famous for the Love God.

This Taoist temple was initially built in 1878, and it's very peculiar given its unique vertical structure, which makes it different from other Taiwanese temples. Given its unique structure, it is the only temple in the country equipped with an elevator.

Located along the Tamsui River, Dadaocheng Wharf thrived in earlier years as an entrepot for trade along the river. In the past, here you could have found many products, including tea, cotton, and silk textiles.

Yong-le Market is one of the most famous in the area where you can stumble across many Chinese medicine shops. The market is also the largest fabric center in Taiwan, so it's perfect if you are looking for a souvenir.
