Welcome to Nuremberg! I'm Alex and have been guiding for years in various cities across Germany.
Today I will take you through the old city where you will visit one of Germany's most charming medieval old town.

Learn about Nuremberg's development into an important city in the Holy Roman Empire as you start near the Pegnitz River and visit two important Gothic churches. 

Afterwards, make your way to the Imperial Palace through the Main Market, and end back at the river with some nice local tips.

Old Town Nuremberg

The Church Of Our Lady, or Frauenkirche in German, is a Gothic church located at the eastern end of the market square. If you visit this church at noon you will be able to watch the Männleinlaufen, which means little men dancing.

Located in the city's central square, you will find the Schöner Brunnen, which, translated into English, is called the beautiful fountain. We invite you to follow the tradition and turn the golden ring on the fountain grille three times whilst making your wish.

Lorenzkirche is a spectacular Gothic church in the center of Nuremberg which dates back to 1250. It's the starting point of our Nuremberg walking tour and its history is narrated by our guide.

The Henkersteg is the hangman’s bridge. The stone tower nearby was built in 1320 and was once part of the original city walls. The bridge was built in 1457 so that the so the executioner could exit his house and cross the river without contact with the rest of the population.

Kaiserburg is the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg, a bix complex above the Old Town and part of our walking tours of the city. It was the home of the crown jewels and the place where every elected ruler had to hold their first Imperial Diet.

Also known as Hauptmarkt, Market Square is the house of many red and white stalls. The city is popular for its Christmas Markets, but even if you visit the city outside of December, you will still be able to try some local delicacies.
