The Brandenburg Gate

Yes, you read it right, there is a Brandenburg Gate in Potsdam, too, not to be confused with the one in Berlin. This gate was built roughly 20 years earlier and takes inspiration from the famous Rome’s Arch of Constantine.

The New Palace

This huge Barogue palace, known as the Neues Palais, was built as an expression of Prussian Power after the end of the Seven Years’ War with France. Among its 200 rooms, the most peculiar is the Grottensaal, which contains over 24,000 seashells, gemstones, and minerals.

The Nikolai Church

The beautiful Nikolai Church, or Nikolaikirche, is a Neoclassical church built between 1830 and 1850. The construction of the dome was inspired by the famous St Paul's in the City of London.

The Church of St. Peter and Paul

Located in the center of Potsdam, this Roman Catholic church was built from 1867 to 1870 and was originally intended to have two towers instead of the Italian-style bell tower we find today. It's another iconic church that we suggest you visit in Potsdam.

The Dutch Quarter

One of the many surprises of Potsdam for us was to find a whole area of Dutch-style houses built between 1733 and 1742 to attract Dutch artisans. But did these artisans come in the end? You can discover it in our audio tour.

The Orangerie Palace

Another impressive palace, located in the Sanssouci park, is the Orangery Palace, whose construction started in 1851 and ended in 1864. It was construed under King William IV and takes inspiration from the Uffizi Galleries in Florence.

The Great Fountain

This stunning fountain was built in 1748 at the center of Sanssouci Park. It's definitely a great place to relax while you are visiting Potsdam.

The Sanssouci Palace

Built between 1745 and 1747, this is the summer palace of Frederick the Great and one of the iconic historical buildings of Potsdam which we suggest to visit during your excursion.

Frederick the Great's Grave
