Portsmouth Highlights - 500 Years of History by the sea

The HMS Victory is one of the most iconic points of interest in Portsmouth. This was the famous flagship of Lord Nelson during the Battle of Trafalgar. We suggest visiting the inside and learning more about its history.

Now serving as a floating museum, the HMS Warrior is another important ship you can visit during your stay. The ship is considered one of the best-equipped and biggest vessels of its type during its time.

One of the most photographed landmarks of the city and part of our Portsmouth walking tours is the Spinnaker Tower. Located on the waterfront at Gunwharf Quays, it offers a spectacular view of the city.

Another important landmark narrated by our local expert is the Royal Garrison Church, the place where King Charles II and Princess Catherine of Braganza held their wedding ceremony in 1662.

The Square Tower was part of the oldest sections of the fortifications of Portsmout. It was built in 1494 during the reign of Henry VII and was the residence of the military governor until 1580.

Also known as Chaderton Castle, this fort was constructed under the indication of Henry VIII on Portsea Island in 1544. While now it's a popular visitor attraction, its fascinating history will bring you back in time.
