Hello everybody! Welcome to Sintra, this enchanting village on the mountain slope by the Atlantic Ocean!

My name is Ana, I am a local and a Licensed Tour Guide and today I am taking you around the fabulous, green, lush, and full of stories mountain of Sintra! This Audio Tour is perfect to let you know more about Sintra, its Palaces, History, and curiosities, but also to get oriented, to know how to move around and decide which are the best monuments for you to visit, since I make a little description of all of them! Always fresher than Lisbon and the ideal place for hunting, Sintra was chosen by Portuguese Kings and several aristocrats to have their summertime palaces or residences. All of this beautiful Nature and the so diverse Palaces we can find here, make Sintra, the Mountain of the Moon, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. 
Hope you are ready to start discovering! The Tour lasts about 1 hour if you don't go inside any monument. It starts at the Train Station and ends close to Quinta da Regaleira, passing by the city center.

Enchanting Sintra

The most famous landmark of Sintra is the National Palace of Pena. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. You can learn its history in our Sintra walking tour.

Also known as the Palace of Sintra, the National Palace of Vila is the oldest palace in Portugal, whose construction started around the 10th century under the Moorish rule. Being located at the heart of Sintra is quite easy to reach.

Very close to the Palace of Sintra, you will find the Sintra Town Hall, a Neo-Gothic building with magnificent spires. It was completed back in 1909, and is the perfect example of the Romantic and Manueline schools.

The Moorish Fountain, or Fonte Mourisca in Portuguese, dates from 1922 and is the artwork of master sculptor José da Fonseca.

Another magnificent landmark of Sintra and a UNESCO World Heritage site is the Moorish Castle, built by the Moors between the 8th and 9th centuries. Be prepared to walk its walls and admire Sintra from above.

Quinta da Regaleira is another famous attraction in Sintra, whose Initiation Well depicted in the photo attracts thousands of visitors. This magnificent point of interest was designed to represent Dante’s Inferno nine circles.

Sintra is not only the palaces we have described so far but also a small town whose city center is beautiful to explore. It's filled with great shops and restaurants, one of which will be suggested by our guide if you take the Sintra audio tour.

While not as popular as the Pena Palace, the Biester Palace is another iconic point of interest in the city. Built in 1880 to serve as the residence of the merchant Ernesto Biester, it was recently restored and is another important stop of our Sintra tour.
