My name is Kristen, your guide and L.A. local. Although this neighborhood is most well known as the home of Griffith Park and the Griffith Park Observatory, you shouldn’t come for the views and leave. Los Feliz is filled with neighborhood gems, art, and is home to a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The best days to take this tour are Thursday-Saturday to ensure the cultural sites on this tour are open to the public.

Movie History in Downtown Los Angeles

The Griffith Observatory is one of the most iconic landmarks of Los Angeles, and part of our Los Angeles walking tours. From this 1935 observatory, you will have a stunning view of the city.

The Hollyhock House is a jewel located in the East Hollywood neighborhood. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as a residence for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall, it's now an iconic landmark of Barnsdall Art Park.

The Los Angeles Theatre is a historic movie palace erected between the 1930 and early 1931. It was designed by legendary theatre architect S. Charles Lee and it's an example of the French Baroque style.

The Los Angeles Theatre

Opened in 1917, before the Los Angeles Theatre, this was the first movie house built by entrepreneur Sid Grauman in 1918 as the first grand cinema palace in the city. It is now the property of Langdon Street Capital a real estate investment company.
