Bonjour! My name is Carine, I am a parisienne with an accent (@ourfriendinparis). I have been guiding for years at Versailles Palace and gardens and realized how much my guests also loved this walk, like a local, through the city, before or after their visit. Indeed few people realize that Versailles is one of the most beautiful cities of France ... and not a touristy one! So follow me on a travel in time to discover the authentic city of Versailles: the former jail, the tennis court where the French Revolution started, the farmer market, Louis XIV's vegetable gardens, shopping streets, and many other surprises. The visit is designed in two parts: part 1 is from the station to the palace(around one hour), and part 2 is around the palace to be done before or after the palace visit. Doing this visit on a Tuesday morning, Friday morning, or Sunday morning will offer you the pleasure of seeing the beautiful farmer market of Versailles.
