Hi everyone, my name is Natalie, a Belgian native who loves taking visitors to the lesser known, but not less historical or beautiful, places.. and Mechelen is definitely one of those. So, I’ll be your guide today in Mechelen. For a few decades in the early 16th century, Mechelen was the center of power, art and knowledge of the Low Countries. This glorious period has left us with almost 400 protected historical façades. On this tour, we'll visit some of this hidden gem's highlights, including the City Hall, Beguinage, a few beautiful 16th-century city palaces, the impressive cathedral but also a former Nazi transit camp with a holocaust memorial.
