Hello everyone! My name is Maria and I am a licensed tourist guide in Athens. Welcome to the Athens essential tour! Today I will guide you through the highlights of Athens so you get familiarised with its landmarks, its history and the vibes of my city. Athens has been inhabited continuously in the past six thousand years. That is why when you walk around it you notice that it is full of contrasts, old monuments, churches, mosques ,ruins and modern structures blended in an interesting way. With this tour I aim to familiarise you with down town Athens by walking close to its most important landmarks. In this tour we are going to walk through its extensive historical center where the heart of Athens beats. As a tour it is generally moderate and relativelt easy as we walk mostly on ground level. However, it also includes walking up the slope of the Acropolis and down some steps in the old town-Plaka. A pair of good walking shoes and the soul of an explorer is all you need to enjoy it!
